Help to Buy Show paves the way to home-ownership for first-time buyers Jenny and Daniel.

Help to Buy Show paves the way to home-ownership for first-time buyers Jenny and Daniel.

Jenny King (29) and Daniel Green (36) bought their dream home in Raunds, Northamptonshire through the Help to Buy Equity Loan Scheme.

Before purchasing their Help to Buy home both Jenny and Daniel lived separately with their parents in nearby Bedfordshire.

“The most attractive part of the scheme was the fact we only needed a 5% deposit”.

Jenny, a personal assistant at a manufacturing company in Northamptonshire visited a Help to Buy Show with her Dad to discover her home-ownership options and realised there were a lot more alternatives than renting and that buying a home wasn’t as expensive as they thought.

“The Help to Buy Show gave us a clearer picture about the up-front costs of home-ownership and provided a clear signal as to which scheme we should purchase through.”

After visiting the Help to Buy Show Jenny and Daniel visited a number of show homes in search of their dream home.

Jenny and Daniel eventually decided on a 3 bedroom semi-detached property at the Bellway Homes development Border Park in NorthamptonshireThe couple enjoy being social so the open plan kitchen-diner was a real selling point.

“A day after we moved in to our home the site team were round and checking we were okay and if there was anything they needed to do. We were so impressed with the service from start to finish.”

Jenny explained that:

“Our friends and family love it, they can’t believe how much space we have and how we have been able to afford to buy a home like this”.

The move brought Jenny and Daniel closer to their workplaces with Daniel working around the corner and Jenny’s office just 20 minutes down the road. The property prices were also much cheaper than back home in Bedfordshire.

“Without Help to Buy we would have struggled to purchase a house which was suitable for our needs. We would have had to move as soon as we expanded our family which would have incurred more costs further down the line. The other advantage is that because we only required a 75% mortgage we were able to secure a lower mortgage rate”

The couple are yet to explore the area fully but are excited for the future and what it may hold.

Help to Buy Shows are a great way to explore homeownership options with many solicitors, developers, housing associations and financial advisors all under one roof.
