Help to Buy to the rescue for Holly!
Life’s a little hectic to say the least for single mum Holly who juggles a full time job working shifts in the A&E department at the local hospital, looks after three year old daughter Hallie along with their three dogs Alfie, Tilly & Minnie and is also studying for a degree!
But one thing she doesn’t have to worry about is the roof over her head – thanks to Help to Buy she’s now living in her forever home.
Holly’s previous home was sold following a relationship breakdown and she didn’t think that she’d be able to afford to buy again on her own. Then she heard about the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme that allows buyers to purchase a new home with just a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage. The remaining 20% is covered by an equity loan from the government, which is interest free for the first five years.
An exciting new development near Boston in Lincolnshire caught Holly’s eye – The Quadrant, being built by Chestnut Homes was ideal, as she grew up in Boston and it meant she would be nearer to her family again.
The on-site mortgage advice company James Leighton Financial Services helped her realise her dream when they confirmed she could afford to buy a three bedroom detached house with the assistance of Help to Buy. So how did she find the home buying process? “I can’t believe how easy it’s been, it’s remarkable how quick it all was”, says Holly.
It’s pretty amazing, as Holly didn’t even think she was eligible for Help to Buy; she thought the scheme was only available for first time buyers.
Holly moved in with her parents while she was waiting for her new home to be built and that gave her time to save up for some lovely new furniture & accessories. Now everyone loves it and the best part is that she now has the room to invite friends and family round for barbeques and get-togethers.
So would Holly recommend Help to Buy to her friends? “Yes, I think it’s a great way to help people like me – I could never have afforded to buy my home without Help to Buy”.
